An illustrated history of the paddle steamer Ryde, built for the Southern Railway Company and delivered in 1937. The vessel was capable of carrying 1050 passengers and was ordered to operate on the route between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
PS Ryde operated on the route between 1937 and 1969, with an interlude during World War 2 where she served as a minesweeper and anti-aircraft ship.
This book traces the history of PS Ryde, including the vessel's use as a hotel and a nightclub as well as her use on The Solent and throughout the war.
