A reprint of this detailed review of the Isle of Wight’s railways from 1923 up to the mid-2000s. The Southern Railway acquired the island’s railways in 1923 and ran them up until nationalisation in 1948. Following the war the railways went into a period of decline with most of the island’s railways closing. This book follows the history of the railways through this decline and the reopening in 1967 of the Ryde–Shanklin line. Well illustrated with black & white photographs and maps. 296 pages.
