An album of over 180 colour and black & white photographs illustrating steam locomotives operating in the Erzberg region of Austria during the 1960s and 1970s.
The 15km line from Eisenerz to Vordernberg was operated by ÖBB Class 97 and 197 steam locomotives, which were built during the Austro-Hungarian era. The line also saw Class 297 steam locomotives, which were the most powerful rack steam locomotives in the world.
The lines to Hieflau and Leoben are also covered in this book, as they fed the main branch line. Donawitz steel works and the mines of the Erzberg area are also covered.
Each photograph is accompanied by an informative caption and further text describes the history of locations along the line, as well as of the Donawitz works.
