The first part of an illustrated review of the South Yorkshire bus company, based in Pontefract. This first volume covers the period from 1929 when the company was formed, through to 1973.
What was to become South Yorkshire was started by Mrs May Winder in 1925, when she started using a bus and a car to operate a bus service into Pontefract from the village of Badsworth, six miles away. The business expanded as was renamed South Yorkshire Motor Company in 1930.
This book tells the story of the company up to 1973 and includes a series of archive black & white and colour photographs of vehicles purchased by the company up to 1973. Each photograph is presented in full page format with a caption at the foot of the page. 48 pages.
