An illustrated review of the rich transport history enjoyed by the port city of Rostock.
Today the city is the most important transport hub on the Baltic Sea coast. The city was connected to the railway network in 1850 and by 1895 four more connections were added from the directions of Wismar, Stralsund and Berlin as well as to Warnemünde.
With the expansion of the city over the years, official S-Bahn operations began on the route to Warnemünde in September 1974.
Freight transport was of particular importance in Rostock as it was the only rail linked international port in the GDR.
In addition to the railway operations at Rostock's main station, the route to Warnemünde, the two Rostock ports with their connecting railways and the Warnemünde-Gedser ferry service are also covered in this book.
Verkehrsknoten Rostock contains high quality black & white images from various periods through history, illustrating all aspects of the city’s transport network. 112 pages. German text. Hardback.
