A comprehensive history of steam locomotive 18 201, which was built at Meiningen locomotive works in 1960-61 as a conversion from locomotive 61 002.
The unique locomotive was built for the VES-M Halle works, for the testing of new rolling stock at speeds of up to 160 km/h. When not being used for testing rolling stock, the locomotive often hauled express passenger service trains. Since 1980, the locomotive has been preserved and often hauls special trains around Germany.
This book takes a detailed look at the locomotive's history, including its design and use at VES-M Halle and since preservation. Well-illustrated throughout with over 300 black & white photographs, diagrams and reproduced documentation. German text. Hardback. 192 pages.
