An album of colour and black & white photographs taken by Reinhold Palm, a Bundesbahn employee, during the 1950s and 1960s. His job allowed him access to locations and events not available to the general public.
Author Udo Kandler presents a selection of Palm's photographs and uses text and captions to explain what images show and the significance of them. Photographs include promotional shots, as well as behind-the-scenes photographs of the day-to-day operation of the railway.
Photographs are arranged into chapters, each covering a different subject. Within each chapter, some text introduces the topic and this is followed by a series of photographs, each being accompanied by a caption.
