This is a superb album of mostly black & white and some colour photos of Class 86 steam locos in Austria, most of which were taken between the mid-1950s and the late 1960s.
Of the 775 locos of this type built between 1928 and 1943, 28 were allocated to Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) after World War II.
The book starts with a detailed history of the class covering its main design features and areas of operation. There are then photos of each loco arranged numerically by loco number, featuring a good mix of locos on shed, passenger, freight and mixed passenger/freight trains. A few of the photos show the locos working in multiple with other classes of steam loco.
German text. Hardback. 132 pages. Approximately 120 photos, mostly black & white.
