Rails Across the Isle of Man in the 1950s (Unique)

£9.99
4 In Stock

A superb album of black & white photos illustrating all the passenger carrying railways in operation on the Isle of Man during the 1950s, the last decade when the island’s rail network remained largely intact. All lines of the Isle of Man Steam Railway are illustrated, including the now long-gone lines to Foxdale, Peel and Ramsey and the still extant line to Port Erin.

Also featured are the Manx Electric and Snaefell Mountain Railways, the Douglas horse trams, the Groudle Glen Railway (which closed in 1962 and has since been lovingly restored), the Douglas Head Funicular Railway and the Queen’s Pier tramway in Ramsey. The last photo shows the remains of a trailer car from the Douglas Southern Electric Tramway, closed in 1939.

64 pages. Approximately 60 black & white photos. Softback.
