A detailed illustrated account of the many railways that have served the Isle of Man over the past 150 years. The Isle of Man is well known for its heritage railway attractions: the Isle of Man Steam Railway, Manx Electric Railway, Snaefell Mountain Railway, Douglas Horse Tramway and Groudle Glen Railway. This book includes a concise history and description of each of these undertakings, accompanied by a series of high quality illustrations.
150 Years of Manx Railways also contains details of more than 20 other railway undertakings that have also been sited on the island over the years. These include miniature railways, tramways, industrial lines, funiculars and even the monorail to Peel.
A brief account is provided for each undertaking and a selection of photographs, many of which are, by necessity, of an archive nature. A general overall history of the island’s railways is also included and stock lists are provided for the railways that are still in operation.
The informative text is supplemented by a series of detailed maps and a broad selection of illustrations. Hardback. 192 pages.
