Swiss Steam Locomotives since 1900 (Swiss Railway Society)

A superbly illustrated review of steam locomotives operated by railway operators in Switzerland since 1900.

Although Swiss railways were early adopters of electric motive power, many steam locomotives remained in service well into the 20th century. In fact, the last SBB steam-hauled passenger train ran in November 1968, several months after the last BR service in Britain!

An introduction to Swiss motive power is followed by chapters covering each of the constituent companies of SBB, Switzerland's national operator. The next section focuses on independent railways, including standard gauge, narrow gauge and rack railways.

Each chapter contains entries for every type of steam locomotive built for the company. A short description is provided for each type, along with a number of archive photographs and a technical diagram, where possible.

Swiss Steam Locomotives since 1900 provides an illustrated review of Swiss steam locomotives. Hardback. 224 pages.
