The 'Stahlwerke Bochum' can trace its history back to the ropeworks which occupied the site in the 19th century. After switching to steel production, the factory expanded and in 1971 it employed over 5,700 workers.
This book traces the history of the factory and also the railways which were built to operate within the site and to carry products in and out of the site and into the German railway network from the 1920s onwards. Includes details of how the railways were used and of locomotives working at the site over the years.
Well-illustrated throughout with archive black & white and more recent colour photographs, maps and diagrams. German text. Hardback. 128 pages.
