Prior to the reunification of Germany's railway, locomotive and rolling stock manufacturing was carried out under the umbrella of VEB, who operated several factories around East Germany.
Many of the state owned industrial sites in the DDR were mothballed and demolished during the post-reunification years, however several of the railway works still exist today and some are still in use.
This DVD contains footage from the DDR-era as well as footage of the sites in more recent years, including the Bombardier works at Hennigsdorf, the coach works in Görlitz and the Stadler works Bautzen. Also contains footage of locomotives, rolling stock and trams to have been manufactured either by VEB or at former VEB sites.
