This DVD tells the story of three-phase electrically powered locomotives in Germany.
Looks at early development of three-phase electrical power in railway vehicles, including a trial near Berlin in 1901. The first modern three-phase electric locomotives were the DB Class 120s, some of which are still in active service today.
The DVD describes how three-phase power works and also contains footage of prototype locomotives and the Class 120 locomotives in action. Also looks at the development of locomotives since, including the ICE powered cars and and modern electric locomotives.
