The Western Region has seen a period of great change over the last decade, with the rebranding of First Great Western as Great Western Railway and the replacement of the iconic HST fleet with new Hitachi Intercity Express Train units.
Parts of the region have seen the arrival of electrification and a modernisation programme has been ongoing for much of the last decade. This book contains a series of high-quality colour photographs taken around the Western Region in recent years. Photographs illustrate trains operating on the National Railway network as well as at heritage railways around the region.
Photographs feature a variety of the train types operating around the west of England and Wales, including HSTs, IETs and various multiple unit types. Each photograph is accompanied by an informative caption. 96 pages.
