In this book, author and photographer David Price presents a selection of his colour photographs taken along the Highland Main Line between Perth and Inverness over the past four decades.
The line offers some of the most scenic views to be seen from a main line railway in the UK, including the lush Tay valley and the mountainous views of the Cairngorm mountains from the line around Dalwhinnie and Aviemore.
The photographs cover a variety of types of train operating on the line since the 1980s, featuring loco-hauled passenger trains, multiple units and HSTs. As well as regular passenger service trains, photographs of freight trains and steam-hauled charter trains are also included. Photographs are arranged in two-per page format, with captions accompanying each. An introduction to the Highland Main Line is also included. 96 pages.
