Aberdeen by Tram in Photographs by ENC Haywood (Stenlake)

Aberdeen By Tram in photographs by ENC Haywood has been compiled from previously unpublished photographs which were taken by the late ENC Haywood on his annual holiday visiting relatives in the city.

Haywood himself was from Nottingham, so maybe the Aberdeen trams were close to his heart because when Nottingham's tram network closed in 1936 Aberdeen had purchased many of their trams; Aberdeen's trams continuing to run until 1958. He loved trams and, when journeying between his native Nottingham and Aberdeen, in the late 1940s, 50s and 60s he would take the opportunity to photograph the UK's surviving tram networks, railways and other industrial locations.

A brief introduction to the trams of Aberdeen is accompanied by a colour map of the network. The photographs are mainly displayed in one-per-page format.

15 colour and 37 black & white photographs. 48 pages.
