An illustrated history of the railway line which links Keith Junction, on the current line between Inverness and Aberdeen, with Dufftown in Banffshire.
The line was one of the rare Scottish branches which survived the Beeching Report, but it did finally close in 1991. However, rather than disappearing, the line was transformed into Britain's most northerly heritage railway and is today operated by a dedicated group of staff and volunteers.
This book looks at the line's final years as part of the national railway network, including the decline of the freight which had previously kept the line alive, and the regular visits by excursion trains during the 1970s and 1980s. It then goes on to look at the line as a heritage railway, bringing the story right up to the present day.
