The first book in a new series which uses high quality photographs from the archive of the RCTS to present a photographic journey through the history of some of Britain's best loved steam locomotive classes. This first volume focuses on the GWR King Class - the country's most powerful express locomotive right up to their withdrawal in the early 1960s.

Full-page photographs are presented in landscape format, with an informative caption accompanying each image. Photographs are arranged in chronological order, from the emergence of 6000 'King George V' from Swindon works in 1927, to the withdrawal of the final locomotive in 1962.

The development of the class over the years is covered, with captions highlighting improvements and modifications to the design of the locomotives through their history.

Hardback. 154 pages.
